Empowering Youth Through Human Rights Training
On 02 May 2025, the Rohingya Youth Empowerment Network (RYEN) successfully organized a vital training session titled “Capacity Building on Human Rights” in Camp-7. The training was conducted by Nezam Uddin, a respected lawyer and legal professional with experience in human rights and legal advocacy.
This training addressed a crucial gap in the community: the lack of awareness among Rohingya youth about their fundamental human rights. Many young people in the camps are unaware of the rights they are entitled to under international human rights law, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This lack of knowledge limits their ability to advocate for themselves and others.
Through this interactive session, participants learned about basic human rights, the importance of justice and dignity, and how to respond non-violently to injustice. The training also encouraged critical thinking, leadership, and community involvement, key values that RYEN seeks to promote among youth.
We are grateful to Nezam Uddin for sharing his expertise and to all the enthusiastic youth who actively participated in the session. Their engagement is a powerful sign of hope and a step toward a more informed, empowered, and rights-conscious Rohingya community.
RYEN remains committed to continuing such educational efforts that build the capacity of youth to become change-makers within their communities and beyond.
