Ko Naing Zaw
Ko Naing Zaw is a 17-year-old Rohingya youth from Buthidaung, Arakan State, Myanmar. As a survivor of the 2017 persecution and ethnic cleansing carried out by Myanmar toward the Rohingya community, he was forced to flee to Bangladesh and now lives in a Cox's Bazar refugee camp, while continuing his education in the Science Department at a local institution.
His father, Mr. Foyez, is a respected religious scholar, and his mother, Ms. Asma, is a team leader in IOM field research. Inspired by his parents, Ko Naing Zaw was raised with strong values of education, leadership, and service to the community. His challenging life experiences have fueled his passion for humanitarian work and youth empowerment.
In addition to his role at RYEN, Ko Naing Zaw is a regional member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), where he actively contributes to leadership development, community service projects, and social innovation programs among displaced and marginalized youth.
As the Outreach Coordinator at the Rohingya Youth Empowerment Network (RYEN), Ko Naing Zaw focuses on building strong community connections and partnerships to support youth empowerment and social development. Through collaboration and resource mobilization, he works to ensure the success of outreach programs for the Rohingya community.
