1st Year Student | Activist | Author | Photographer | Humanitarian
Yeasor Arfat, a 19-year-old Rohingya
youth, is a first-year student, a passionate activist, published author,
photographer, and humanitarian worker. With the aim of finding sustainable
solutions for the Rohingya community, Yeasor founded the Rohingya Youth
Empowerment Network (RYEN) to work for the welfare and development of his
people, focusing on education, youth empowerment, advocacy, and community
support.
He is the son of Mr. Habib Ullah, a respected community leader with a master’s in Zoology, and Minara Begum, a dedicated homemaker. Originally from Chin Tha Ma, Maung Nu Village in Buthidaung Township, Rakhine State, Myanmar, Yeasor now lives in Kutupalong Camp-07 in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, which is the largest refugee camp in the world.
Having witnessed the ongoing persecution
of the Rohingya from a young age, Yeasor was forced to flee Myanmar during the
2017 genocide. Since then, he has dedicated his life to advocating for justice,
raising his voice for the Rohingya people, and striving for a future where they
can return home with dignity and full rights. He is also the co-author of the
poetry anthology “Voice of Survivors: From Darkness to Hope”, which amplifies
the voices of Rohingya youth.
Through his leadership at RYEN, Yeasor
continues to inspire change and work toward long-term, sustainable development
solutions for the Rohingya community.
