Meet Our Communication Director

Mohammad Zonayed

Communication Director – RYEN

Mohammad Zonayed is a passionate Rohingya humanitarian and community mobilizer, born on November 4, 2002, in TaungPyo village, northern Maungdaw, Rakhine State, Myanmar. After fleeing Myanmar in 2012, he began his educational journey in Bangladesh and has since emerged as a dedicated advocate for refugee rights and protection.

Now residing in the Rohingya refugee camps of Cox’s Bazar, he volunteers with UNHCR and tutors displaced youth in Bangla, English, and Burmese. His work centers on education, gender equality, youth empowerment, public health, and the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

Zonayed has held several key roles:

Community Outreach Member (CC COM) with ACTED under the UNHCR-funded Community-Based Protection (CBP) project (2024–2025), strengthening engagement through Community Centers.

Health and GBV Program Contributor with RTM International, part of a UNHCR-funded project focused on providing critical services to Rohingya refugees.

Safety Unit Volunteer (SUV) under BRAC HCMP’s Site Management Support (SMS) program (2019–2022), and a frontline volunteer for the Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP).

His capacity-building includes comprehensive training by BDRCS/IFRC, BRAC, RTM International, ACTED, and MOAS, covering:

PSEA and humanitarian Code of Conduct

                            GBV basic concepts and response

Water safety and community-based disaster preparedness

As Communication Director at RYEN, Zonayed plays a crucial role in amplifying community voices, raising awareness about ongoing challenges, and ensuring transparent communication within and beyond the camps. He is fully committed to RYEN’s mission of advancing education, youth empowerment, and sustainable community development for the Rohingya people.

Through his leadership in communication, Zonayed continues to bridge voices and stories from the ground to the world, working toward justice, inclusion, and positive transformation for his community.
